Sharpe Hyflo Impellers

A line of hydrofoil impellers that incorporate a split-hub design which is stronger, more adjustable, and easier to install and remove than conventional one-piece or bolted-blade impellers is available from Sharpe Mixers,

Inc. of Seattle, Washington.

Sharpe HYFLO Impellers feature four blades with a narrow, low-pitch section at the tip where the speed is fastest and a wider, higher-pitch section near the hub where it is slower for maximum efficiency. In 24” dia. and larger sizes, the blades are welded directly to a split-hub that can be attached anywhere on a shaft without a keyway, and is easy to adjust or remove.

Available in industrial and sanitary versions, the split-hub eliminates the need to cut and weaken a shaft with a keyway. For high torque applications,

Sharpe HYFLO Impellers’ fail-safe operation is achieved by welding torque pins to the shaft which fit into matching holes on the split-hub’s bore.

Suitable for new equipment and retrofit on existing agitators, impellers can be made from 316SS to titanium and other alloys in 3” to 210” dia. sizes.

Sharpe HYFLO Impellers with split-hubs are priced according to material, size, and quantity. Pricing is available upon request. One-piece impellers are also offered.

Folding Impellers to the Rescue!

HYF218 Impeller with folding blades.
Sometimes the nozzle opening of a tank can be the limiting factor in determining the diameter of the impeller to be installed.  But does it have to be?  Not as far as Sharpe Mixers is concerned!

Sharpe has been designing folding impellers as a solution to such challenges for many years.  The example shown here is 72" dia. HYF218 impeller, designed to fit through a 16" nozzle opening.  In its static position, the blades will point downward.  Once the impeller begins to rotate, centrifugal force opens the blades to its full diameter.

Tight fit?  No problem!

Sharpe Mixers on Yahoo! News

Sharpe Mixers welded HYFLO impeller assembly
Sharpe Mixers was recently subject of an article on Yahoo! News.  The story discusses our impeller designs, focusing on our industry leading HYFLO design.  Our four-blade design is 10% more efficient than other three-blade designs, offering better performance.

Our HYFLO has been tested through CFD modeling against a number of leading hydrofoil impeller designs and have consistently provided the most flow for the least amount of power.

Impellers, Impellers, Impellers!

Recently we accepted a large order for impellers and steady bearing assemblies from a large food producer. However, it wasn't without its challenges. The task? To manufacture 30 large hydrofoil style impellers and 6 steady bearing assemblies in only 10 days. This would require over 140 hours of blade forming and fabrication hours - a huge task! We completed the job in just 9 days - one day sooner than promised!

Pictured here are the first 12 completed impellers. They will next be cleaned up for appearance and go through a rigorous inspection process by an engineer before being released for final packaging and shipment.

New HYF-218 Impellers!

Sharpe Mixers now stocks 22" dia. HYF-218 impellers with both 1.25" and 1.5" bore sizes in SS316 material!

These impellers join our standard line of HYF-218 impeller sizes 7" thru 18" dia. in 0.75", 1.0", and 1.25" dia. bore sizes.

All impellers are offered in SS316 material, solid hub with set screw design as our standard. Additional coatings such as rubber or halar can be offered at an additional charge. Impellers can also be specially manufactured in special alloy materials.
